The female victim, Quineisha Callahan, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities say the driver of a gray Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling southbound on the Gulf Freeway when he slammed into a black Mercury Cougar that was stalled on the freeway. The front and rear passengers of the Mercury were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with non- life threatening injuries.
The driver of the pickup was also taken to the hospital and was listed in serious condition.
It took crews and investigators at least three hours to clear the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
