Missing local woman found dead in car

ROANOKE, LA Stefanie McKenzie, 33, of Humble was reported missing after leaving home around 2:30am Tuesday. Harris County Sheriff's deputies issued an alert, believing McKenzie could pose a danger to herself.

Chief Criminal Deputy Larry Dupuis said Thursday that investigators don't suspect foul play, but suicide or an accidental overdose are being investigated.

He said the woman and car had been reported missing from the Houston area. They were found Wednesday, in a field. He referred a query about the woman's name and cause of death to the coroner.

The body was taken to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office. Calls there were referred to the Jeff Davis Parish coroner's office, which did not immediately respond to a message left on a machine.
