Magnolia woman killed in mobile home fire

MAGNOLIA, TX The fire started just before 9pm at the home on Laurel Lane near Pine Bark. The victim's 16-year-old son was barbecuing across the street and saw the flames. He and several others tried to get the woman out of the burning home, but were not able to because of the smoke and flames.

"Family members were on scene when firefighters arrived. They were attempting to get the homeowner out but were not able to make it because of the heavy fire conditions," said Assistant Montgomery County Fire Marshal Scot Burlin.

Firefighters found the victim's body in her bed. Firefighters believe the blaze started in a back bedroom and spread to the rest of the trailer. One firefighter received minor injuries battling the fire.
