Fire breaks out at vacant apartment unit

July 24, 2009 5:19:05 AM PDT
Firefighters tapped out a fire before it could spread through an apartment complex in northwest Houston. The flames broke out in one unit of the Summercrest apartments on Hollister at Pitner late last night. Crews made a quick attack and contained the damage to that one unit. The apartment did not have electricity.

"The unit is actually vacant. There's a possibility that maybe somebody may have been staying in there unknowingly to the management but it was supposed to be a vacant apartment," said Buddy Dyer with the Houston Fire Department.

No one was hurt, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
