Fire breaks out at vacant apartment unit

HOUSTON The flames broke out in one unit of the Summercrest apartments on Hollister at Pitner late last night. Crews made a quick attack and contained the damage to that one unit. The apartment did not have electricity.

"The unit is actually vacant. There's a possibility that maybe somebody may have been staying in there unknowingly to the management but it was supposed to be a vacant apartment," said Buddy Dyer with the Houston Fire Department.

No one was hurt, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
