Dozens of families lose homes to apt. fire

The fire broke out at the Westlake Apartments on Broadway near Harkey in Pearland. Some of the tenants say they never heard any alarms and were surprised when firefighters showed up.

"They knocked on the doors and got everyone ou and we didn't know what was going on," said fire victim Ashley Biggs. "It took about 45 minutes to find the fire and after that, they had to break down walls to find it."

Firefighters believe the fire was electrical and started between the second and third floors. No one was hurt.
