With an estimated $40.7 million dollars in ticket sales Friday through Sunday, down a little from original estimates, this remake of "Friday the 13th" has the best weekend debut for a slasher picture. For Friday through Monday, the film's estimated take is $45.2 million.

Media By Numbers, which gathers box office figures, says the next three movies in this weekend's estimated Top 5, are holdovers from previous weeks: "He's Just Not That Into You," "Taken" and "Coraline."

In fifth is "Confessions of a Shopaholic." It's the only other new film to open in the top five.
