Two police shootings in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX In the first incident Tuesday night, Officers Anthony Delgado and Todd Kalk arrived at a scene where they saw three people on foot and occupants of an older model sedan firing at one another.

The shooters then fired at the officers as they arrived, and the vehicle tried to ram the patrol car, said police spokesman Officer Joe Rios. The officers fired back and eventually stopped the car.

Some of those involved successfully fled, but three men were taken into custody, Rios said. One had a gunshot wound to the ear, but it was unclear whether he was hit by the officers or by one of the other suspects, he said.

In the second incident, early Wednesday, Officer Daniel Vega responded to a one-car accident, but when he got there, the driver tried to run. The officer grabbed the driver's arm, and the driver shot Vega in the leg.

Vega returned fire and shot the man in the leg and arm. Police said they were withholding the names of the suspects pending formal charges.
