Hammer-wielding suspect threatens workers

On New Year's Day, Rosenberg police apprehended Michael Zavala, 33, of Wallis for aggravated robbery.

Zavala had allegedly gone into Lowe's, located at 28005 Highway 59, and stolen a heat bond seaming iron and threatened the store's employees with a hammer when questioned about the item. Zavala was then seen running across the parking lot Highway 59 and into a fast food restaurant where he hid in a bathroom stall.

Zavala was found in that stall by Officer J. Becerra and taken back to Lowe's where he was identified by witnesses.

Zavala was arrested for aggravated robbery for the use of a blunt object as a weapon during the robbery and taken to the Rosenberg jail. He will later be transported to the Fort Bend County Jail.
