Arrest made in teen's death

HOUSTON Now his family is in mourning over a life cut short.

The teenager was killed on the southwest side, near West Ridgecreek and Fuqua. Police have a man in custody, and we're learning more about what sparked the deadly shooting.

Police have arrested Lester Keymichael Jackson, 25. Charges in this case are still pending. Jackson told police the teen was messing with his car, but there is still no clear motive.

Sources tell Eyewitness News the suspect is also wanted for a murder out of New Orleans.

Fredrick Robertson just turned 15 in January. His family never imagined that would be the last birthday they would celebrate with him.

"He was a perfect kid, he didn't deserve to die like that," said the victim's mother Teresa Robertson.

The aspiring musician was on his way home from a friend's house on West Ridge Creek Drive near Fuqua last night when police say three men approached him. One had a gun and shot him.

"All I ask is for justice to be served so we can be at peace," said the victim's sister Melissa McDaniel.

Relatives are still stunned.

"He was coming to hook up my basketball goal but you just shoot him, 15 that's not right," said the victim's brother Wan'ya Robertson.

"A lot of young kids need to come together and stop all the violence over nothing, my brother was a good kid," said the victim's brother Jermaine McDaniel.

Police believe the shooting may have been random.

"We will forgive you for taking the life of my son because that's what he would want," Theresa said.

The family says their faith will get them through this.

"You don't mess with God's children," said the victim's uncle Terry Robertson. "He's got a praying family, some strong people in the lord."

And their belief the 15-year-old is now in a better place.

"He's in heaven, my baby in heaven. He's in heaven," Theresa said.

Police have made one arrest in the case but investigators believe the suspect had possibly two accomplices who have not been caught.
