MOUNT WASHINGTON, New Hampshire (KTRK) -- It's extremely cold in several parts of the north, but how cold is it?
It's apparently so cold that it's freezing boiling water.
In New Hampshire, people are performing a classic science experiment where they throw boiling water into the air, which then freezes. This is a result of sub-zero temperatures and biting winds.
The area in Mount Washington is forecasted to see wind chill values as low as 35 degrees below zero overnight.
Not only is that enough to freeze boiling water, it can also cause frostbite in as little as 10 minutes.
The warmest temperatures are expected to be next week when it is forecasted to reach -2 degrees.
