HOUSTON WEATHER: Weekend rain chance rises ahead of rare July 'cool' front

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Friday brings more hot and mostly dry weather, but a rare July cool front could bring more soaking storms to Houston next week.

It'll be a quiet morning in Houston with temps starting in the the mid 70s by sunrise. Afternoon sunshine will warm temps back into the mid 90s. Factor in the humidity and it will feel like it's between 104-108 degrees. There's a less than 20% chance you'll get an afternoon downpour, so most of us will be left dry.

A better chance for an afternoon downpour emerges over the weekend as moisture levels rise ahead of a rare July cool front.

This front is expected to bring us a few rounds of scattered thunderstorms along with highs only in the 80s! We could also see a humidity drop if this front clears the coast.
