HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Strong storms are moving through southeast Texas again today. So far, none have gone severe, but we are expecting heavy rain and storms throughout the rest of the day.

Because the rain is so heavy, water is filling up on Houston-area roadways. When traveling, please allow yourself extra time, or consider waiting until things clear out a bit before getting on the roads.

Aside from the heavy rain, we're seeing plenty of lightning.

Lingering moisture and daytime heating will keep scattered storms in the forecast thru Saturday. Most of the showers will pop up between the hours of 10am and 3pm when the sea breeze blows through. Despite the rain, temps will still manage to climb into the 90s.

A big dome of summer high pressure will move in Sunday and last through most of next week. That will drop our rain chance below 20% and push high temps back into the upper 90s.
