Isolated showers and storms possible Sunday with plenty more rain chances into next week
Isolated showers and storms are possible Sunday afternoon, mainly north of Houston. Next week we keep this rainy pattern with several more chances for showers and storms.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- It's going to be another warm and humid night across Southeast Texas with temperatures only dropping to 70 degrees overnight. That being said a few areas of fog could develop overnight and lingering into Sunday morning.

Eventually Sunday the fog will lift and we're left with a partly cloudy sky and highs in the mid 80s. A weak cool front will be nearby, bringing the possibility for an isolated shower or storm. This will be in the afternoon hours and mainly north of the city of Houston, where gusty winds and small hail would be the primary concerns with the strongest storms.

Is more stormy weather coming next week?

Probably. The new month of April begins with more powerful weather systems tracking across the country, bringing gusty south winds and occasional lines of thunderstorms blowing in from the north. Rain chances may trend even higher next weekend with the potential for a slow-moving rainmaker in Texas.

Does this mean drought conditions will improve?

Likely improve, yes! Completely relieved? Not for everyone. The rain from this past week and what's expected over the next two weeks will be beneficial though for those with drought conditions.

Have the recent rains helped tame the pollen count?

Yes! Oak pollen earlier in the week came in at over 9,000 pollen particles per cubic meter of air, which was a new record in Houston for the month of March. By Friday, that count had dropped down to just over 1200, which is below the threshold for an "extreme" tree pollen count. However, with this humid and rainy pattern expected into the following week, mold spore counts are expected to rise.
