Woman accused in deadly Pasadena hit-and-run visibly distraught in court

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 20-year-old woman accused of a deadly hit-and-run in Pasadena appeared before a judge this morning.

Selena Calderon sat in court very emotional, visibly shaken and at times sobbing in her seat. Prosecutors said Calderon killed Henry James Vickers III back on September 27.

Pasadena police officers explained Calderon slammed her pick-up truck into Vickers, who was on a bicycle, along Spencer Highway. Vickers died at the scene, his body left by the side of the road.

In court documents, Eyewitness News learned Calderon's own nephew turned her into authorities. He said was in the passenger seat when the crime occurred last month.

Calderon has hired an attorney. She declined to comment about the matter to abc13. Prosecutors said they haven't been briefed on the matter so declined to comment on camera about the case as well.

Calderon remains out on a $30,000 bond. She is subject to random drug testing and a curfew.
