DALLAS, TX (KTRK) -- The pride of the Texas State Fair is in the running for a national award.

Big Tex has been nominated to be the best quirky landmark in America. It's part of a contest sponsored by USA Today's travel website.

Twenty landmarks across the country are in the running for the dubious honor. Texas has three more on the list: Houston's own Beer Can House, Prada Marfa near Valentine and the Cadillac Ranch near Amarillo.

Readers can go online to vote for their favorite. Voting ends June 23.
