What to wear while summer traveling

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- You're going on a trip, you're finally packed, now, what do you wear to get there?

We want to look polished, but we also want to be practical, right? Stylist Wendy Norwood Patterson shares her tips to comfy, cute travel style.

"My best tip is: pick a go-to airport outfit. That way when you're traveling you always know what to go to in your closet," says Patterson.

1. COMFORT IS KEY: "While I'm typically not a fan of wearing sweats or anything that looks like pajamas to the airport," Patterson says stylish sweat suits are trendy right now and can look cute with a pair of slip-on shoes.

2. CLOTHES THAT WEAR WELL: Look for items like a jersey that won't wrinkle. Also, look for something that can go from the plane right to dinner. A maxi dress is with a scarf is a good example.

3. LAYER AND WEAR CLIMATE NEUTRAL CLOTHING: A tank, a cardigan, a wrapped scarf around the neck, a comfortable pair of jeans, a leather jacket and flats is the perfect example.

4. DRESS FOR SECURITY: Limit the accessories and jewelry. The more you put on, the more you will have to take off. And pack a pair of socks for walking through the security gate!
