HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A motorcycle rider died after crashing his bike. He was then run over by several vehicles.
It happened around midnight on the North Freeway around Barren Springs. The freeway was shut down for hours and was reopened to all traffic around 5:25am.
Harris County sheriff deputies say a man in his 20's had borrowed a friend's motorcycle. He ran a stop sign at Barren Springs and went across the North Freeway feeder road. The rider then crashed into the guardrail and was ejected onto the North Freeway southbound lanes.
The motorcycle rider was then run over by a Tahoe and two 18-wheelers. Deputies say all the drivers stopped and didn't leave the scene.
Deputies believe other drivers may have also hit the man and didn't know it.
The man's official cause of death is pending an autopsy.
