HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Mattress Mack is opening his doors to the hungry on Thanksgiving, even giving free rides to the holiday feast.
It takes a lot of work to feed about 8,000 people. That effort is getting underway on the day before Thanksgiving.
Jim "Mack" McIngvale opened up his store during Hurricane Harvey to those in need, and that spirit of giving remains.
On Thursday, Mack is feeding whoever wants to come and share a meal.
Volunteers will be here at 7 a.m. tomorrow. The store opens at 10 a.m., and Mack is planning to see thousands of people show up.
"I think it's great," McIngvale said. "My grandchildren will be here and they will learn how to serve. One of them is three years old, but they need to learn from an early age that this is the desired behavior."
To help get people to the feast, Gallery Furniture is teaming up with METRO to offer free rides.
You can park at the Park and Ride lot at 12920 Kuykendahl Rd. and hop on a shuttle bus.
