The City of Houston is alerting residents about a wastewater spill in southeast Houston on Friday.
NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy said there are 56 containers aboard containing hazardous materials, including corrosives, flammables and lithium ion batteries.
According to Houston Public Works, an estimated 600,000 gallons leaked from the holding tank that failed, but officials ensured those who receive their drinking water from the City of Houston are not affected.
If you live within a half mile of the Goose Creek receiving stream, you're urged by officials to use distilled water or water that has been boiled for at least one minute.
You might need to boil your drinking water if you have a private well in Baytown. City officials assure residents that this is unrelated to Houston's boil water advisory.
Drivers are being advised to avoid the area if possible, since there's no word on how long the spill will take to clear.
