A recent Rice University study found that six out of 10 households in Harris County are cost-burdened when it comes to meeting rent, with over 200,000 evictions filed in the county since 2000.
According to Rice University's Kinder Institute, rent in Houston has increased nearly 30%, and 51% of rental homes in the city are considered cost-burden, meaning 30% of income goes to housing.
