HPD said it is working on recovering surveillance video to get a better description of the shooter.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Homicide detectives are investigating after a shooting left one person killed near downtown Houston, according to police.

Houston police said they are searching for two suspects who they believe killed a man near Clayton Homes on Sunday.

The shooting happened around 1:15 p.m. Sunday in the 2000 block of Runnels Street.

Police said the victim left his residence at Clayton Homes apartment complex and headed to a nearby convenience store to buy groceries.

While outside the store, authorities said the man got into an altercation with one or two people who were riding bicycles. One of the suspects then pulled out a gun and shot and killed the man, police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police described him as a Black man in his 20s.

Officials said they are looking for two suspects. One is described as a Black man, who was wearing gray and the other a Hispanic man. They were both reportedly riding bikes near Clayton Homes. Police are also working to recover surveillance video from that area.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call police.
