Big reward offered after car burglars steal photographer's equipment, couple's wedding video

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A huge reward is being offered for the return of irreplaceable wedding video stolen during a car break-in.

The burglary happened in the 2300 block of Wentworth in the Third Ward on March 22, just hours after the videographer had left a grand wedding in River Oaks. He was tasked with documenting the exclusive affair and planned to create a special video.

Sometime between 2 and 4am, he says someone broke into his car and stole three Panasonic cameras, a tripod and the most valuable items -- the memory cards that contained all the wedding images.

"The loss of that footage is an incalculable loss for the family. The family feels like their memories were stolen," said the videographer, who asked that we not us his name.

The newlyweds also want to remain private.

The videographer has posted fliers in the neighborhood of the break-in pleading for information. Crime Stoppers is offering the standard $5,000 reward. Anonymous donors have upped the ante with an extra $10,000 for the return of the memory cards and the videographer hopes that cash is alluring.

"I feel horrible, feel awful and anything that is possible we can do. Any help to try to retrieve that footage would be greatly appreciated," the videographer said.

According to Crime Stoppers, the supplemental reward being offered does not require information about the suspects, only the return of the video cards.
