How to save even more money shopping at Goodwill stores

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- If you haven't checked out a Goodwill Thrift Store in a while, you might be missing out on big savings.

There's a brand new Goodwill app and the goal here is to help you score steeper discounts and thrift store deals.

The folks over at Goodwill Houston say it's a new way to get shoppers in the stores with the latest information via the Goodwill app.

With a tap of the button you can clearly see the closest store to your location, and get information on the latest discounts and promotions.

The app will also push out notifications to you in advance.

In addition, Goodwill has a new spring promotion called "Dollar Deals" where select clothing is just a buck a piece.

Teachers, seniors, veterans and first responders have special days of the week, and these special shoppers get to double dip on savings.

As always, shoppers check for the color of the week. This changes weekly, but now with a new twist: in addition to the color of the week, there are larger discounts as it gets closet to the week.

In many cases, you'll save an additional 30 to 50 percent off.
