CYPRESS, Texas (KTRK) -- From the expansion of the Grand Parkway to new business openings, the Cypress area is experiencing quite a boom. One of the biggest additions to the area is a new Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital branch.
The Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital already had five heart patients scheduled for their cath lab on opening day.
Chief Nursing Officer Jessica Rivas was among the staff who gave us an exclusive tour of the facility.
"We're all here as health care providers to deliver care and to finally be able to do that on Friday is exciting. It's thrilling," said Rivas.
The hospital boasts 81 patient beds, with room at the Cypress campus to expand.
"More and more people want to have their healthcare and vital services really close to where they live," said Scott Barbe, CEO of Memorial Hermann Cypress.
With traffic troubles ever-present on Highway 290, the opening of the Grand Parkway has helped continue to fuel growth in the area, according to Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce President Leslie Martone.
"People can jump on 99 and they can get almost anywhere," said Martone.
