SPRING, Texas (KTRK) -- The Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office is looking for multiple persons of interest who could be responsible for a Spring townhouse fire that happened earlier this month.
According to officials, multiple fire departments were called to 1625 Sawdust Road in Spring on Jan. 2 at around 1:06 a.m.
Investigators said that multiple witnesses told them that several people were seen running away from the property, which is said to have been vacant for a long time.
These people were seen heading east on Sawdust Road just moments before the initial emergency calls for the fire were received, officials said.
Surveillance footage from nearby businesses also captured a group of people leaving the building moments before smoke began to pour out into the street.
The fire department said that this is not the first time firefighters have been called to the property.
MCSO explained that, one year before this incident, crews put out a fire that was caused by a couch that had been set on fire inside the townhouse.
Previous inspection of the building had evidence of graffiti and "tagging," according to officials.
Anyone with information about the fire or persons of interest is urged to contact the Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office at 936-538-8288 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-STOP.
