HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A shooting outside a west Houston home left a 13-year-old boy dead over the weekend, according to investigators.

The Houston Police Department said the shooting happened at about 3:15 p.m. on Sunday along Ashford Meadow Drive.

Officers arrived at the scene and learned a boy had been shot, HPD said.

Police said the 13-year-old was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Authorities said they found evidence of a shooting in the parking lot and learned the boy was in the living room of the home when he was shot.

ABC13 spoke with a neighbor who said they were home at the time of the shooting. The neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, said they saw the victim right after he was shot.

"He was shot in the leg. He was wrapping his leg up, and then the ambulance pulled up, and they went in and they pulled him out to bring him out of the house on a stretcher," the neighbor said.

The neighbor said they heard upwards of 10 gunshots.

"There was like about 12 casings or bullets on the ground," they said.

There is no suspect description at this time, officials said.
