Suspect wanted, charged with murder in deadly 2023 shooting in Houston's west side, HPD says
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police said officers are searching for the suspect charged in the 2023 deadly shooting of a man in Houston's west side.

In a statement released on Friday, the Houston Police Department said 31-year-old Alexander Funes-Vasquez is charged with murder in the shooting death of 21- year-old Edward Josue Valladarez-Vargas.
According to investigators, officers responded to a call at about 11:35 p.m. on Oct. 22, 2023, at an apartment complex at 9301 Dairy View Lane. Officers said they found Valladarez-Vargas unresponsive, lying near some bushes.
Officials said Valladarez-Vargas suffered at least one gunshot wound and was later pronounced dead by Houston Fire Department paramedics.
HPD said investigators identified the suspect as Funes-Vasquez, who was later charged with murder after detectives consulted with the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
