Businesses at Richmond Avenue near Chimney Rock without water due to water main break
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Video showed several streets along Richmond Avenue, near the Southwest Freeway, were flooded Friday morning after what appeared to be a water main break.
An ABC13 crew captured video of the floods before 9 a.m., which spanned approximately four blocks of Richmond Avenue, west of Chimney Rock Road.
A work crew was seen responding to the scene as cars rolled through the high water.
According to the city's public works department, repairs were expected to be complete by 2 p.m., with officials now saying they are not sure when it will be fixed.
Multiple businesses in the area have been without water all day. City officials have not said how many businesses are impacted.
Artist Demetrius, who works at A1-Cigar Bar and Lounge, said that the water main break impacted the business.
"I saw it when it was just starting, and then this morning, they had the whole road flooded," Demetrius said. "Bathrooms aren't available; our sinks aren't working, so we can't operate the way we normally do."
On an update on Friday night, public works officials said that the repair is complete with the water line back in service by 10:30 p.m.
