The driver of the pickup truck exited the vehicle safely.

BEAUMONT, Texas (KTRK) -- A water main break caused a road to collapse and a pickup truck to be stuck in the hole it created, according to Beaumont city officials.

Beaumont officials said the accident happened early Sunday morning at the intersection of Central Drive and East Drive.
The driver was able to exit the truck safely after the accident, but the truck was removed hours later.

Officials said the accident happened when the pickup driver "entered the damaged area before it could be secured." Officials did not say whether the hole in the road was already there when the driver went over it, or if the truck caused the road collapse.
Repairs to the water main break were underway and were expected to be completed by the end of Sunday, city officials said on Facebook.
Officials said a boil water notice was not required and that the intersection would remain closed until the repairs were complete.
