The Houston Police Department is investigating a death on Anita Street in the Third Ward.
Officers were called to the scene due to reports of shots being fired and someone trying to put a body in a trash can, according to HPD.
Investigators said when they arrived, they found a body in a trash can in the parking lot of an apartment complex.
Houston police are unsure of how the person died, but there was a trail of blood that led investigators to an apartment, according to HPD.
"It was hard to tell the kind of trauma that was caused. We couldn't tell if it was a gunshot or blunt trauma. Investigators are there right now. When they start examining the body, we'll be able to tell more," HPD Lieutenant Willkens said.
When officers arrived, the person wouldn't come out, so they forced the door open and took them into custody, according to HPD.
Houston police told ABC13 that they are also speaking with another person.
Both people being questioned are persons of interest and not under arrest at this time, according to HPD.
