Man charged with murder of driver after allegedly shooting him in The Heights, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A 19-year-old was officially charged with murder on Saturday after allegedly shooting at a driver in The Heights after an argument on Thursday, according to the Houston Police Department.

Investigators say Jhoan Gomez was walking on Cottage Street when he was involved in an altercation with the driver of a Honda Civic.

HPD said that they arrived at the scene and found the Civic crashed into a curb and the driver had multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by firefighters.

Investigators previously reported that Gomez allegedly fled on foot and was later arrested near the 400 block of Walton Street.

Gomez is charged with murder and has been booked into the Harris County Jail, according to HPD.

HPD said it is not releasing the identity of the victim until his family has been notified.
