HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Residents in Katy are being urged to avoid Katy Hockley Road near the Hunters Terrace neighborhood entrance as crews work on a gas leak, according to the Katy Police Department.
On Thursday, Katy PD said the gas line was hit during the installation of a new main line. The leak has been clamped, and CenterPoint Energy is already on scene assisting with repairs.
In the meantime, Katy PD is shutting down the southbound lanes of traffic while crews continue working.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes until the scene is cleared.
