HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- The Harris County Sheriff's Office says a woman is seriously hurt after a driver led police on a chase and then crashed into her car.

Authorities say it happened on Fry Road near Tealbrook in northwest Harris County just after 10 p.m. Wednesday.

According to HCSO, a deputy tried to pull over the driver of a white Jeep for driving recklessly and possibly trying to race another driver.

Deputies say the driver then took off, leading them on a short chase.

The chase ended when the driver crashed into another car. Officials said a woman was trapped inside the other car after the intense crash.

"She was transported to a local hospital, and they believe it's possible she may not survive this crash. We're going to conduct a full investigation out here and do a crash reconstruction and possibly file murder charges if the victim is pronounced deceased," Sgt. B. Bondurant said.

The sheriff's office says the woman is in her 30s.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the hospital for minor injuries, officials said.

HCSO says it is trying to determine if the Jeep's driver was intoxicated during the time of the crash.
