
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police say an investigation is underway after an officer found a woman dead outside a home in northeast Houston on Monday morning.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to a person down call at 7915 Woodlyn Road at about 11:15 a.m. Officers said they discovered an unresponsive woman near the front door of the house.
Houston Fire Department paramedics then responded to the scene, where they pronounced the woman dead. The identity of the woman is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, officials said.
Authorities said the investigation will depend on the woman's cause of death, which will be revealed through an autopsy. HPD advised anyone with information in this case to call its Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
