Houston mayor and city officials to provide updates on preparations ahead of storm's landfall

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Ahead of Tropical Storm Edouard's landfall, state and local authorities have activated emergency response centers and are staging rescue vehicles in case they're needed.

On Tuesday, Houston Mayor John Whitmire is expected to provide an update on how the city is preparing for potential heavy rains associated with Edouard.

CenterPoint Energy said it has more than 2,700 frontline workers on standby to respond to any outages

During Tuesday's press conference, Whitmire will be joined by the City of Houston Office of Emergency Management and public safety officials.
