Another round of below-freezing temperatures for Tuesday morning
Tuesday morning brings another round of widespread freezing temps. A cold rain returns on Thursday.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Oh hey Winter!

It's cold outside! A strong cold front moved through Sunday evening and the cold air quickly filtered in Monday. And this Arctic cold has some staying power. We've got another freeze on the way for Tuesday morning. We might not see 50 degrees again until the weekend.

Tuesday morning will bring another widespread freeze with potentially even colder temps.

How many more days do we have freezing temps in the forecast?

We should see another widespread freeze Tuesday morning but we should be slightly less frigid Wednesday morning. The northern half of SE Texas could still drop below freezing Wednesday morning but Houston and south could stay just above freezing. Low temps stay in the mid to upper 30s through the weekend at least. Be sure to bundle up and prepare for the cold. Don't forget to take any necessary precautions for to protect plants, pets and your pipes.

Could we get any frozen precipitation?

Most of us probably won't see any wintry precipitation. But it now appears that our northwest counties will have a very small chance of some ice Friday morning. Temps may be below the freezing mark for a short period of time north of a College Station to Lake Livingston line. At this time it doesn't look like the metro Houston area will see any ice but we'll keep an eye on it. Also, a major winter storm is possible over the northern part of the state Thursday into Friday. If you're planning to head to Dallas, you might be dealing with ice and several inches of snow.

What does the weekend look like?

Temperatures will gradually warm up through the week, though it'll be slow. By this weekend though, temperatures should finally climb to above 50 degrees. Saturday and Sunday will both be cool with some sunshine. Morning lows in the upper 30s and afternoon highs in the mid-upper 50s.
