Houston police release details on how man in wheelchair was killed in hit-and-run crash

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston police revealed new details about how a man in a wheelchair was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Friday night.

According to the Houston Police Department, a 51-year-old man in a wheelchair was traveling eastbound in the 4400 block of Reed Road when a vehicle, also traveling eastbound, struck the pedestrian.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity has not been revealed yet.

Investigators described the suspect vehicle as a dark blue Ford or Dodge pickup. The driver did not stop to render aid to the victim, police said.
