
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston police are looking for the driver who hit and killed a man who was crossing a street in a wheelchair, police said.
Officers were called to the intersection of Westover and Telephone in southeast Houston around 10 p.m. Friday.
According to police, a 71-year-old man, who was in the wheelchair, died. Officers said the driver, who was in a small white sedan, took off without helping.
"We are working with getting information on the suspect vehicle [by] start processing the scene, as well as scanning for surveillance," Sgt. D. Griffiths said.
Investigators said the man was using the crosswalk.
Video from the scene showed the wheelchair's wreckage left behind as police investigated.
The intersection had reopened by 5 a.m. Saturday.
