HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Firefighters are putting out hot spots after an apartment fire broke out overnight in north Houston, according to officials.
The Houston Fire Department said it responded to the flames at the complex on Greens Road near Imperial Valley Drive at about 3:30 a.m. on Thursday.
HFD Senior Capt. Raul Reyes said about 10 units were damaged in the fire, but no injuries have been reported.
"When we got here, there were flames coming out of the apartments. We quickly mitigated the situation -- we actually went to second alarm because of how big the scale of the apartment complex was," Reyes said, adding that a two-alarm fire is a request for more resources, such as additional units and firefighters. He said between 50 and 60 firefighters were at the scene.
Fire officials said they don't yet know what caused the fire, but an investigation is underway.
Reyes said the Red Cross has been notified of the families who have been displaced.
