Galena Park ISD confirms student was teen killed in pool party shooting in NE Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Galena Park ISD confirmed the teen killed Sunday night at a pool party was one of its students.

Isiah Phillips was shot and killed Sunday night at The Henry at Liberty Apartments off Liberty River Drive in northeast Harris County, authorities said.

According to the sheriff's office, there were between 25 and 30 teens present without parental supervision when gunshots were fired.

On Tuesday, Galena Park ISD released a statement confirming, "one of our students passed away Sunday night. This news is understandably devastating, and this tragedy will deeply affect the North Shore Senior High School and Galena Park ISD communities."

The district added its Crisis Response Team, and counselors are available for anyone who needs them.

Investigators said they've only been able to speak with a few people and are urging anyone with information to call the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
