LA MARQUE, Texas (KTRK) -- All lanes of the Gulf Freeway have reopened in Galveston County after a heavy truck's lost load caused a backup for miles on Thursday.
Houston TranStar reported the two-vehicle incident happened just after 10:20 a.m. on I-45 at Vauthier Street, where the freeway was shut down for hours in both directions.
The La Marque Police Department said one of the vehicles involved is a commercial truck that was carrying rocks, which spilled onto the northbound lanes. However, the southbound lanes at FM 519 were also shut down due to a roadway hazard, according to the Galveston County Sheriff's Office.

The Texas Department of Transportation posted on social media that at least one lane on each side has been reopened for traffic at 1:20 p.m. But by 3 p.m., TranStar had updated that the scene had cleared.
It's unclear what may have led to the crash, but La Marque police said no injuries were reported.
