HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston drivers will dodge a handful of construction and special event closures as they hit the road this weekend. This is especially true of drivers heading into and through downtown Houston. Both I-10 and I-45 Gulf freeway will see full inbound closures.
TxDOT has outlined the closures as follows:
All Mainlanes, including the westbound entrance from Louisiana, are closed from Hardy Street to I-45 North.
Effective Friday 9 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.
All Mainlanes, including the entrance ramp from Cullen Boulevard, are closed from Scott Street to US-59 Eastex.
Effective Friday 9 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.
Alternate routes in and out of downtown, which are clear of major construction, include SH-288 from the south and US-59 Eastex from the northside.
Just outside the I-610 Loop, drivers have other closures to contend with this weekend: on the Southwest Freeway approaching the West Loop, and for the Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas along the Hardy Toll.
All Mainlanes, including the West Airport Connector, are closed.
Effective Friday 10 p.m. to Saturday 6 p.m.
Four inside lanes are closed from Westpark Tollway to Newcastle Drive.
Effective Friday 8 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.
Traffic on the Southwest Freeway will be detoured to the I-610 West Loop exits, northbound and southbound, but drivers can avoid the congestion altogether by using US-90 to reach I-610.
