HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A person was taken to the hospital after an HFD vehicle collided with a METRORail train in the Near Northside neighborhood, the Houston Fire Department said.

The collision happened on Friday afternoon on Hogan Street near North Main Street, officials said.

A public information officer told Eyewitness News that HFD's Engine 9 was responding to a call with lights and sirens when it was hit by the light rail train.

METRO Police said that preliminary information indicated that the light rail train was struck by the fire truck, resulting in a derailment. MPD said a passenger was taken to the hospital for evaluation and has non-life-threatening injuries.

Images from the scene showed emergency crews blocking the street and a stationary METRORail train.
