HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A man is dead after authorities said he was hit by a train in northeast Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

Multiple crews were called just before 1 a.m. Wednesday to the 11300 block of Hirsch Road. Police said train crews were training along the tracks when they heard something hit the train.

The conductor stopped the train and began looking for what it was, and that's when they found an adult man along the tracks, according to police.

HPD said the man was pronounced dead at the scene, and it's unclear why he was on the tracks. An investigation is ongoing.
