Pedestrian killed after being struck by vehicle in northwest Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY (KTRK) -- One person is dead after being struck by a vehicle in northwest Harris County.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, watch command received the call at 2:55pm Sunday. Investigators say the woman was jaywalking on FM1960 and TC Jester when she was hit by a white GMC Arcadia.

The driver of the GMC was traveling southbound on TC Jester in the outside lane and had just traveled through the intersection of FM1960 west. The unidentified woman stepped off the grass area into the front right portion of the vehicle, according to deputies. Investigators say the driver "could not take proper evasive action to avoid a collision."

Witnesses tried to revive the woman, but she died a few minutes later at the scene.

The name of the female victim has not been released.

No charges will be filed against the driver. The case remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff's Office Traffic Accident Investigation Division.
