GALVESTON, TX (KTRK) -- Two boaters who had been missing in Galveston Bay for days were found alive Wednesday, rescued by the Coast Guard after toughing it out at sea through the storm. Now, they're back on shore and getting medical attention.
Michael Watkins and Raymond Janik were out at sea for three days before being spotted clinging to an oil platform.
Once they were rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard, one was rushed to a hospital in Clear Lake. The other was taken to Memorial Herman Southeast
Watkins and Janik went missing after their boat capsized near Galveston Bay Monday. Coast Guard air and boat crews searched for two days with no luck
"Days out at sea, usually most people can't survive that," said Nikki Moore with the U.S. Coast Guard.
But then a miracle,,,
"I was like, Holy cow and then I spotted them as well," added Jessie Weaver with the U.S. Coast Guard.
Both men were found clinging on to two small oil platforms about a mile from where their boat was found empty Tuesday.
What made it even more remarkable. Neither man was wearing a life jacket.
