Vendors say they're out thousands of dollars after Houston Beer Fest

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Imagine putting in the work but not being paid. That's the complaint from some vendors who participated in Houston's Beer Fest. We were the first to tell you about workers who said they hadn't been paid from the June event. Vendors tell us they're out *thousands of dollars.

The beer fest organize again says he just sent out a fresh batch of checks to pay workers. He said he's in a bad situation and he knows it. He's just trying to make it right.

The Houston fest last month attracted tens of thousands of people and breweries and vendors like Adelbert's.

"As a festival it seemed OK," Eric Andreas with Adelbert's said.

Ready to pour and serve, patrons paid a cover to get in and tickets for beer. Money was made.

"We are absolutely sure that we have not gotten paid," he said.

But the organizer, Timothy Hudson, still hasn't paid a number of contracted workers and vendors.

"Just in product alone, roughly $43,00," Andreas said.

Andreas said Hudson gave him a check, he deposited it and it bounced. We told you Wednesday night about another security guard worker

whose $420 check also bounced. We learned Thursday that worker was paid.

"There is no doubt in my mind that he made enough money," Andreas said.

Yet the Hudson says he lost tens of thousands of dollars in unexpected production costs and more than $100,000 in beer sales. He claims workers were giving away beer instead of charging.

"Any person could try any beer at anytime at no cost," Hudson said.

Hudson said he is working on getting everyone paid and said there's only a small number of people who are owed money.
