HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A teen getting ready for school was startled when two suspects kicked in the door of his family's southwest Houston home early this morning.
Houston police say around 8:30am, Bryan Vanegas heard the doorbell and looked outside the house in the 11300 block of Bexley. The teen saw two unknown men and a black Ford Explorer parked in the driveway of his home.
"They knocked about 40 times, rang the door bell around 20 times," Vanegas said.
The teen didn't answer the door and hid in his bedroom. A few minutes later, he heard the front door being kicked in.
"He liked opened the door to see if anybody was home, if anybody could say anything... and he went and kicked" said Venegas.
The teen told police he climbed out of his bedroom window and ran to a neighbor's home and called 911.
The burglars were already gone when police arrived, making off with a TV, a watch, and a gaming console.
Police are still looking for both suspects. Neighbors say they're now thinking about their own security more seriously.
