HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A star football player at Eisenhower High School appeared in court Friday, facing capital murder charges.
According to prosecutors, 19-year-old Eligah Haywood and three other men were involved in the shooting death of Adrian Neal during a home invasion in North Harris County on New Year's Eve.
Haywood confessed he participated in the crime but claims he was only the lookout at the front door.
According to state law, it makes no difference whether Haywood was the shooter or not; he can still be charged with murder.
The Harris County judge denied bond for Haywood.
As officers led Haywood out of the court, his brother stood up and yelled, "Love you, E, love you, bro," bringing an admonishment from the judge.
According to Haywood's attorney, he had several football scholarship offers.
