HOUSTON (KTRK) -- If you like to get up, get down, and put your hands up to the sound, we've got some good news for you. A new report from National Geographic says Houstonians don't have to travel far to find some of the best clubs to get your party rock on.

The magazine ranks Houston as the 8th best Nightlife City in the entire world. What's more, Houston is the only city from the United States that made the list.

That's right. No Miami. No New York.

So why does National Geographic like the Houston nightlife so much? The magazine says "club-hopping along Washington Avenue is buzzy, unpretentious fun" and also points out there's "excellent theater and jazz for the artsy crowd, too."

Plus you can't go wrong with places that let you wear jeans and cowboy boots.

Here's the full list of Best Nightlife Cities:

  1. Dublin, Ireland
  2. Belgrade, Serbia
  3. La Paz, Bolivia
  4. So Paulo, Brazil
  5. San Juan, Puerto Rico
  6. Goa, India
  7. Ibiza, Spain
  8. Houston, Texas
  9. Thessaloniki, Greece
  10. Baku, Azerbaijan
